Borenius is advising DayOne on a large-scale data centre project in Klaukkala

We advise DayOne, a Singapore-based global data centre developer and operator, on a large-scale data centre project to be located in Klaukkala, Nurmijärvi. The planned project would further reinforce DayOne’s long-term commitment to advancing Finland’s digital ecosystem with a tentative phased development potential of up to 560 MW of total grid power. At peak, construction is estimated to employ up to approximately 1,000 workers, with long-term operations supporting a gradual ramp-up of up to 700 skilled positions.

The project is in the early stages of development, with the Municipality of Nurmijärvi having approved the preliminary sale and purchase agreement with DayOne concerning the project site. The zoning for the project is currently ongoing. In addition, DayOne and Finland’s leading energy producer Fortum have signed a site-securing and development agreement relating to the planned project, under which Fortum will support the project’s development by assisting with the zoning process and facilitating grid connection planning.

The project follows DayOne’s previously announced data centre project in Lahti as well as a joint venture project in Kouvola with a local partner.
