Simo Viljamaa

Simo specialises in insolvency proceedings and dispute resolution. He has a strong practical understanding of various Finnish insolvency proceedings, and he is regularly appointed to act as administrator in bankruptcy proceedings.

Simo has especially strong expertise in large-scale bankruptcy and corporate restructuring proceedings, as well as in the advisory work arising in connection with them. His experience covers advising companies, creditors, lenders, and other stakeholders across a variety of distressed situations, complex restructurings, and workouts. In addition, he regularly advises our clients on recovery actions and debt collection matters arising in connection with bankruptcy and corporate restructuring, as well as on matters concerning the enforcement of pledges and insolvency-related criminal proceedings.

Beyond his insolvency expertise, Simo has developed considerable experience in handling demanding enforcement matters. He assists our clients particularly with precautionary measures, enforcement-related sales processes, and disputes concerning enforcement proceedings at the National Enforcement Authority.

Prior to joining Borenius in 2023, Simo worked at the Office of the Bankruptcy Ombudsman, where he was responsible for supervising the administration of bankruptcy estates and restructuring proceedings.
